Actress-singer Nikki Gil has confirmed that she is engaged to her non-showbiz boyfriend, ending weeks of speculation over photos of her wearing a ring.

The 27-year-old Kapamilya star confirmed the engagement in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe, which will be aired in the Friday telecast of "Bandila."

Gil has been rumored to be in a relationship with businessman BJ Albert.

Without confirming their status, Gil referred to Albert as her special friend, the one, and her source of joy in a January episode of her news program on music channel MYX.

The "ASAP" mainstay first admitted dating again in November 2013, four months after the controversial end of her five-year relationship with "It's Showtime" co-host Billy Crawford.

This was the statement of TV host and former "ASAP" performer Iya Villania as she came to the defense of her close friend, actress-singer Nikki Gil, amid criticisms questioning her virginity.

The statement was in response to an Instagram user's comment on one of Gil's photos, telling the actress to stop denying any sexual relations she had with Crawford.

Gil's vow to not have sex until marriage became public in the months following her split from Crawford in July 2013. At the time, it was speculated as one of the reasons behind the breakup.

In a July 2014 interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," Gil, who is rumored to be in a relationship with businessman BJ Albert, said her decision to stay a virgin still stands.
