Sarah Geronimo Picked By Disney To Sing 'Princess' Theme Song

Prized ABS-CBN star Sarah Geronimo has been selected by Disney to interpret the theme song of its highly popular "Princess" franchise.

In a teaser aired on Disney Channel, the 26-year-old pop star announced that she recorded her own version of "The Glow," whose music video will premiere on December 6.

The teaser generated excitement among Geronimo's fans online, making "Sarah G. The New Disney Princess" zoom up as a worldwide trend on micro-blogging site Twitter.

"The Glow" was originally performed by English singer Shannon Saunders and debuted in 2011 to coincide with the induction of the character Rapunzel, from the 2010 animated film "Tangled," as an official Disney Princess.

The announcement of Geronimo's official rendition follows the confirmation that actress Kim Chiu, a fellow "ASAP" mainstay of the singer, was tapped by Disney to portray Mulan from the 1998 animated film in a project.

Although The Walt Disney Company, in its statement, did not divulge details about the project, it has been rumored to be a 2015 calendar featuring Disney characters.

In April this year, Geronimo also dressed up as Queen Elsa from the 2013 box-office hit "Frozen" as she belted out "Let It Go" in a licensed performance on "ASAP."

Geronimo sits alongside an official "Disney Legend," Lea Salonga, as a coach in ABS-CBN's ongoing version of the singing competition "The Voice." Salonga provided the singing voices of two Disney Princesses -- Mulan and Princess Jasmine from the 1992 film "Aladdin."
