Lyca Gairanod Celebrated Her Frozen Themed Birthday Party

"The Voice Kids" champion Lyca Gairanod, who used to scavenge junk for a living, celebrated her birthday with a party for the first time recently.

Gairanod, who turned 10 last November 21, held the party last Saturday at a club house of Camella Tierra Nevada in General Trias, Cavite. Her family, who used to live in a fishing village in Tanza, moved in to their new home in Camella in October.

The two-storey house was one of Gairanod's prizes as the winner of "The Voice Kids," in addition to P2 million and a recording contract with MCA Universal.

The singing champion wore two dresses to mark her birthday -- a red one paired with a pink tiara, and a blue one inspired by the character Queen Elsa from "Frozen."

The party, which gathered Gairanod's colleagues, friends and family members, was themed after the Disney animated film. At one point, Gairanod even sang a few lines from "Let It Go," a popular tune from the movie.

Kim Chiu Cries Over Allegations She Bought Best Actress Award

Kim Chiu could not hold her tears on Wednesday as she addressed allegations that she "bought" an acting award she received last Sunday for her role in the recently concluded primetime series "Ikaw Lamang."

The "Past Tense" star took home the Best Drama Actress trophy at the 2014 PMPC Star Awards for Television, beating Maricel Soriano, Lovi Poe and fellow Kapamilya stars Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin, Dawn Zulueta, and Maja Salvador.

In a live interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," Chiu was asked for her reaction to critics who say she was the least deserving of the recognition.

She said she cannot please everyone and if the award can be bought, then she would have bought one before so she can be called best actress.

Despite being in showbiz for almost a decade now, Chiu admitted she has yet to get used to personal attacks from her detractors.

Chiu attained popularity in 2006 when she joined the first-ever teen edition of "Pinoy Big Brother," which she won. She bagged lead roles in several ABS-CBN series and has since starred in 10 films.

Her latest movie, "Past Tense" co-starring Xian Lim and Ai Ai delas Alas, was released in cinemas on Wednesday.

"The Glow" was originally performed by English singer Shannon Saunders and debuted in 2011 to coincide with the induction of the character Rapunzel, from the 2010 animated film "Tangled," as an official Disney Princess.

The announcement of Geronimo's official rendition follows the confirmation that actress Kim Chiu, a fellow "ASAP" mainstay of the singer, was tapped by Disney to portray Mulan from the 1998 animated film in a project.

Although The Walt Disney Company, in its statement, did not divulge details about the project, it has been rumored to be a 2015 calendar featuring Disney characters.

In April this year, Geronimo also dressed up as Queen Elsa from the 2013 box-office hit "Frozen" as she belted out "Let It Go" in a licensed performance on "ASAP."

Geronimo sits alongside an official "Disney Legend," Lea Salonga, as a coach in ABS-CBN's ongoing version of the singing competition "The Voice." Salonga provided the singing voices of two Disney Princesses -- Mulan and Princess Jasmine from the 1992 film "Aladdin."
